Jamaican Sorrel & Punch Recipe<\/p>\n
INGREDIENTS:<\/p>\n
8 cupswater<\/p>\n
6 ouncesJamaican sorrel (dried hibiscus flowers)<\/p>\n
5 ouncessliced fresh ginger<\/p>\n
4whole cloves<\/p>\n
1cinnamon stick<\/p>\n
3scrapes from a whole nutmeg (optional)<\/p>\n
1 cupJamaican white rum (optional)<\/p>\n
1 to 1 1\/2 cupssimple syrup<\/p>\n
Juice of 1 orange (about 1\/2 cup)<\/p>\n
1 teaspoonlime juice<\/p>\n
Ice<\/p>\n
Orange slices, for garnish<\/p>\n
INSTRUCTIONS<\/p>\n
Bring the water to a boil in a large saucepan over high heat. Remove from the heat and add the Jamaican sorrel, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg if using. Cover and let steep for 1 hour.<\/p>\n
Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer set over a bowl. Discard the dried sorrel and spices.<\/p>\n
Add the rum, if using, simple syrup, orange juice, and lime juice to the strained mixture and stir to combine. Transfer to a pitcher or punch bowl filled with ice. Garnish with orange slices before serving in ice-filled cups. Hope these tips were helpful.<\/p>\n
